N2 - The main purpose of this study was to investigate a novel non-invasive optical technique for rapid bedside detection of oxygen gas in the lungs of full-term newborn infants. The results suggest that the technique will be clinically useful as a diagnostic and monitoring tool for infants with lung disorders.
