Notes on Some Puzzling Legends on Seventh-Century Arab-Byzantine Coinage

Abstract

This paper discusses several problematic Greek inscriptions on Arab-Byzantine coins of the so-called Imperial Image phase. Among other things, it re-attributes a group of coins recently attributed to Canatha from that town to Thanaach (modern Ti’inik) instead.
