Abstract
An experimental technique which gives detailed information about the optical and thermal distributions within high power semiconductor lasers is presented. The technique enables a 2-dimensional thermal map of the active region with a resolution < 1°C to be generated, and is a valuable tool for analyzing thermal effects in high power semiconductor lasers.
