Photonic beamformer with flexible interface for phased array antennas

Abstract

A novel photonic beamformer with flexible interface for broadcast mode phased array antennas (PAA) was presented. The beam controller provided 2π radio frequency (RF) phase shifts desired for narrowband beamforming. The results conformed the functionality and applicability of the system in smart antennas for wireless communication.
