Abstract

With an unprecedented increase in power demand and the carbon-neutral policies of countries, renewable-based power generation technologies have been playing a key role in the generation side. Depending on the available sources of these technologies in that country, the most appropriate ones are being chosen to integrate into the power system. However, power fluctuations of the renewable energy system might deteriorate the power quality (PQ) of the power system. This paper provides the PQ comparison of the wind generator (WG) and oscillating water column (OWC) in terms of the harmonic distortions considering the respected definitions in the standard of IEC 61000. Moreover, the analyzes are conducted in cases of the high, medium, and low energy states together with considering the grid strength.
