Abstract
The processing of ceramics in the system Zr//xTi//ySn//zO//4 (where x plus y plus z equals 2) has been studied and characterisation at microwave frequencies has been made. In particular, the composition and the calcination and sintering conditions have been varied to produce a dielectric with a permittivity greater than 35, a dielectric Q greater than 5 multiplied by (times) 10**3 at 6GHz and a temperature coefficient of permittivity close to zero. X-ray analysis of mixed oxides, calcined powders and sintered ceramic shows that the oxides partially react between 900 degree C and 1070 degree C and are fully reacted at 1350 degree C. Application for microwave dielectric resonators is discussed.
