Abstract

Literature focused on NCSD prevalence or treatment will be identified, and the percentage of studies that consider delirium screening, assessment, or exclusion will be quantified. Given delirium high frequency and its deep severity among older adults living with dementia, it is of particular interest to gain understanding on the extent of the current literature on NCSD addressing the screening, assessment, or exclusion of delirium superimposed on dementia. A scoping review will be conducted to critically appraise included studies, and, if indicated, to generate improved evidence recommendation. The findings of the review will be used to improve awareness on prompt delirium detection in older adults living with dementia, in order to mitigate its clinical impact.
