Abstract

A range of Pt and Pt-Re catalysts on titania were mechanochemically prepared and compared to conventional catalysts made by wet impregnation for the selective hydrogenation of stearic acid. Mechanochemically prepared catalysts showed superior selectivity toward stearyl alcohol compared to the conventional catalysts.
