Self-reactivity of s-triazine and its radical cation: An electron/proton transfer process driven by ionizing radiation

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Exposure of solutions of s-triazine in a trichlorofluoromethane matrix at 77 K to γ-radiation resulted in the formation of s-triazinyl radicals by deprotonation of the primary radical cations. The results indicate that neutral s-triazine molecules dissolve in an associated state in the Freon solvent.
