Abstract

A self-delayed heterodyne measurement of a short cavity swept source is presented, enabling the real-time reconstruction of the entire complex electric field over multiple sweep periods. The instantaneous wavelength is measured over the ∼100 nm sweep range. Knowledge of the full electric field furthermore allows numerical calculation of various laser properties, including for example the instantaneous linewidth.
