Surface plasmon mediated emission from resonant-cavity LEDs

Abstract

We describe a new method to extract light trapped inside a resonant-cavity LED using surface plasmon modes. The light extraction is obtained by depositing a thin layer of Gold with a subsequent overcoating with a polymer material.
