Abstract

This paper was written in response to a request from a Network of Teacher Educators, funded by the European Commission to submit a paper describing the challenges facing teacher education in Ireland. The paper provides an overview of Ireland's system of teacher education, it documents innovations that were recently introduced and discusses some current issues.
