Abstract
Two species of Siphonoecetes Kroyer have been obtained from Irish waters. A study of material in the collection of the British Museum (Natural History) has shown that all British and Irish material of the genus contained therein can be attributed to one or other of these two species. One species is considered to be synonymous with S. kroyeranus Bate, a species largely ignored since its original description, the other, not previously recognized as a distinct species is figured and described under the name Siphonoecetes striatus sp. nov. A key is provided to all the known European species of the genus. © 1979 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
