Abstract
This chapter considers current law and policy on the interface between mental health and criminal justice in Ireland. It critiques the fragmented nature of services for mentally disordered offenders and the failure to implement required policy changes. It raises serious questions about the implications of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities for the interface between mental health and the criminal justice system. It calls for a more integrated response from the multitude of agencies involved.
