Thermo-optic tuning of whispering gallery modes in microspheres to the 85Rb cooling transition in a vapor cell

Abstract

We demonstrate a method for tuning whispering gallery modes in microspheres to the cooling transition of 85Rb in vacuum. The ability of this device as a sensitive atom-optic sensing tool is presented for bio-sensing applications.
