Thermo-optical tuning of whispering gallery modes in microspheres around the 85Rb cooling transition

Abstract

We present a method for tuning whispering gallery modes in microspheres and demonstrate tuning to the cooling transition of 85Rb. The tuning method can be used in UHV and is of interest for cavity-QED experiments.
