Abstract

The vector analyzing power of (d,n) reactions on 11B, 12C, 14N and 15N was measured for laboratory angles between 2.5° and 70°. A deuteron energy of 8.5 MeV was used for the 12C(d, n0)13N reaction. The 11B(d, n0)12C, 11B(d, n1)12C, 14N(d, n0)15O, and 15N(d, n0)16O reactions were studied at deuteron energies of 10.0 and 11.8 MeV. The vector analyzing power of thej = 1 2 and l = 1 transitions to the ground states of 13N and 16O shows a similar characteristic j-dependence as has been found for (d, p) reactions on intermediate and light-weight nuclei with the same j- and l-value. For the 11B(d, n1)12C and 14N(d, n0)15O reactions we determined jp to be predominantly 1 2. Results of distorted-wave calculations are in reasonable agreement with the measurements.
