Research Profile

Lorraine Chadwick

Biography

I am a Lecturer in the School of Education at University College Cork, where I bring professional and educational experience to my teaching and research.  In my current role, I contribute to the Professional Master of Education (PME) programme, co-teaching on the ED6362 Designing Curriculum and Assessment for the Contemporary Classroom (Year 2) module and The Pedagogy of Business Studies modules (Year 1 and Year 2).  As a PME School Placement Tutor, I support and mentor student teachers in their journey toward becoming reflective and effective educators. I also co-teach the Conceptual Foundations in Curriculum and Assessment module on the BEd Gaeilge and BEd Science undergraduate programmes.

Prior to my appointment to the School of Education, I was a post-primary teacher from 2008 - 2024.  I taught Business, Economics, History, and Geography at senior cycle and Business Studies, History, Geography, CSPE, and Religious Education at junior cycle.  During this time, I was appointed to a variety of leadership positions, including Acting Deputy Principal, Year Head, Junior Cycle Network Manager, and AEN Co-ordinator.  These roles afforded me the opportunity to develop expertise in school leadership, curriculum development, and inclusive education, which now inform my contributions to teacher education at UCC.  Preceding my work in education, I was employed in the financial services sector.
