Caroline Dalton

Biography

Biography:
Dr Caroline Dalton is a Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Nursing and Midwifery Education at the Catherine McAuley School of Nursing and Midwifery, University College Cork (UCC) and is a Registered Intellectual Disability Nurse (RNID).

Having qualified as a Registered Nurse in Intellectual Disability (RNID) in 1993, she worked as a staff nurse 
and as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Behaviour Therapy, until she joined University College Cork in 2005.

Dr Dalton holds a Bachelor of Nursing Studies (2002) from Dublin City University, an MSc in Learning Disability (2008) from the 
University of Birmingham, a Postgraduate Diploma Teaching & Learning in Higher Education (2009), and a PhD in the area of end-of-life care and intellectual disability (2020) from University College Cork.

At the School of Nursing and Midwifery, UCC, Dr Dalton lectures on a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and supervises MSc and Ph.D. students. She is an active member of the Healthcare Ethics and End-of-life Care Research cluster within the School of Nursing and Midwifery and Inclusion Health Interest Group, within the College of Medicine and Health, at UCC. She is an external examiner for the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Trinity College, Dublin. 

She also continues to engage in research relating to Intellectual Disability, Dementia, Acquired Brain Injury and End-of-Life Care, and Interdisciplinary Education
