Linda Daly
Research Profile
Biography
I qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) in 2010 while working as an actuarial consultant with Mercer. After more than a decade in the pensions industry, I joined University College Cork in 2012. I am currently a Senior Lecturer in the School of Mathematical Sciences and am pursuing a PhD under the supervision of Dr Mary Hall at Dublin City University. My research primarily focuses on mortality and morbidity analysis.

Linda Daly (2021) Ireland experiences higher deaths in the winter relative to the other seasons with the seasonal differences in mortality increasing with age. As the population ages it becomes increasingly important to understand seasonal mortality trends and the implications for an ageing population. This presentation presents the results of a seasonal mortality investigation in Ireland for ages 60-90 for all causes of death combined over the period 1986-2017. [Invited Lectures (Conference)], Irish Mathematical Society annual conferences (34th meeting), Munster Technological University . [Details] |
