Biography
As well as being a member of the products reserach group of the Pension and Long term Care working party with the IFoA , I am currently undertaking a PhD with Dr Mary Happy, UCD. The title of my PhD is "Mortality and Morbidity for Actuarial Applications from an Analytical Perspective". The aim of my thesis is to apply statistical modelling techniques to model large CMI datasets more efficiently. In particular the thesis aims to extend the models developed by the CMI to model the mortality of self-administered pension schemes by considering the effect of additional factors such as age as retirement, duration since retirement, industry, period and cohort effects, pensioner subgroups etc and other factors that were not previously modelled.
