  - To cater for the needs of industry the CSIR-NML has developed a primary optical frequency standard. The frequency standard is based on a technique of locking a diode laser's output wavelength to an absorption line of acetylene at a known pressure. These absorption lines are a fundamental characteristic of acetylene.
