I am particularly interested in the assessment and teaching of empathy. To this end, I have developed the Curtin Vicarious Response Scale (CVRS), a research tool specifically developed to evaluate emotional responsivity in clinical practice.
My research strategy is to develop CUDSH as a centre of excellence for the assessment of empathy/ emotional responsivity in clinical practice.

I am responsible for the development, delivery and assessment of the Behavioural Science components of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree Programme (DS1002; RD2007; RD3008, RD4001, RD5002); Dental Hygiene programme (RD1002; RD2002); Dental Nursing programme and the Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry (OH7003).
I have been an invited lecturer on both the MA in Forensic Psychology and Diploma in the Psychology of Criminal Behaviour programmes in UCC,(2008/2009)
I am the appointed co-ordinator of the Dental School & Hospital Mentoring Programme which provides academic and personal support for undergraduate BDS; Dental Hygiene and Dental Nursing students.
I am the RD 2007 Module Co-ordinator Introduction to Clinical Dentistry and the overall year co-ordinator for BDS II commencing in 2010
