Isabelle Coonan

Biography
Isabelle Coonan is a research assistant in the Department of General Practice in UCC. She has previously worked as a research assistant in the School of Public Health in UCC.
Her research in the Department of General Practice involves a qualitative study of healthcare professionals opinions of therapies for early stage dementia as part of the PRIMED project. This is the third study from this project, which also involves a sequential mixed methods design incorporating a scoping review, a Delphi study which have been completed, and a mixed methods evaluation in general practice and specialist secondary services. The project is funded by a Health Research Board (HRB) grant awarded to the principal investigator, Prof Tony Foley.
Isabelle was awarded a BSc in Public Health Sciences from UCC in 2023, and a Masters of Public Health (MPH) specializing in Health Protection in 2024. Her MPH dissertation focused on alcohol-related trends in consumption, hospitalisations and deaths in Ireland before implementation of Minimum Unit Pricing. She has presented her dissertation at the HSE Integrating Evidence and Action: Shaping the Future of Alcohol Research Conference in November 2024, and the SPhERE Network 11th Annual Conference in March 2025.
