Katie trained as a General Nurse in Limerick Regional Hospital from 1983 to 1986. She has worked in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney in Australia, St. James Hospital in Dublin, St Finbarrs Hospital in Cork and St John of Gods Hospice in  Boston USA. She completed her Midwifery training in the Northern College of Midwifery in Glasgow in 1990 and worked as a midwife in The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, London. Katie has also worked as duty nurse with a homeless service in St Botolph’s crypt centre.   In 1992 she joined Medi-Group Cathedral road Cork as a Practice Nurse where she worked until taking up her current post as Diabetes Nurse Facilitator with Diabetes in General Practice in UCC.
