Teaching Interests

I am passionate about both undergraduate and post graduate education. I lead the undergraduate programme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology where we directly provide the curriculum and teaching for in excess of 400 Undergraduate student per year. Obstetrics and Gynaecology is consistently rated very highly in the qualitative assessments by students on both quality  of teaching and organisation.

I am Year Head for Direct Entry Year 4/ Graduate Entry Year 3 ensuring that the curriculum is appropriately delivered and providing organisational and pastoral support for the that student body and to provide a conduit for information for students and the School of Medicine.

I coordinate the Postgraduate Module in Maternal Medicine and teach across the wider Masters in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. We have provided teaching across a variety of platforms including face to face teaching ,distance learning and eLearning. We have innovated in our assessments which have included guideline and patient information development webpage and podcasting while also examining using more traditional routes.

I actively lead and participate in Continued Professional Development for both our doctors and Midwifrey and Nursing staff introducing evidence based courses  to Cork University Maternity Hospital over the last number of years. These include the RANZCOG Fetal Surveillance P. K2  Training program and PROMPT (PRactical Obstetric Multi-Professional Training) course.
