Mitra accomplished her PhD in Environmental Technology in an international energy program at KMUTT-JGSEE, Thailand in 2012. She then worked in École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland as a postdoctoral researcher and continued her work in Italy as a research flow in FP7 project StarAgroEnergy. In 2015, Mitra lectured master students at Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (HTW Berlin), Germany funded by BCP (Förderung über das Berliner Chancengleichheitsprogramm). In 2016 she joint MaREI, Environmental Research Instituted, UCC. She is currently a research fellow in ocean and offshore wind energy.
