Somyajit Chakraborty is a Research Assistant at the Computer Science Research at University College Cork. He holds a B.Tech in Computer Science from Techno India University, India and an M.Sc in Data Science from UCC. He is currently working on the SFI sustainability challenge StepUp project under Dr. Rosane Minghim and the School of English and Digital Humanities project GENCHRON under Dr Máirín MacCarron and Dr Rosane Minghim. He is also working as a Teaching Assistant for the module CS1205:Programming Fundamentals I. He has also conducted research in collaboration networks, network growth, complex networks, and social networks in financial markets with IIIT Guwahati and TIU, India since 2019. His research interests include Complex Networks, Social Dynamics, Optimization, Operations Research, Game Theory,  Random Walks, Visual Analytics, Large Language Models, NLP and Computational Modelling.

Somyajit Chakraborty’s research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence, physics, and complex systems. He is particularly focused on the development of generative AI and large language models (LLMs) for scientific reasoning and data-driven decision-making. He is primarily interested in computational chemistry, computational physics, particle dynamics, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), with a strong emphasis on physics-informed machine learning and foundation models. Additionally, he is also deeply engaged in network science, trust modeling, and visual analytics, and aims to bridge symbolic and statistical AI with physical modeling to solve high-dimensional, multi-scale scientific problems.

Somyajit Chakraborty's teaching interests include introductory to intermediate courses in programming in R, Python, JavaScript and Java, Stochastic Modelling, Statistics for Economics and Finance, Game Theory, Operations Research, Algorithm Design and Analysis, Optimization, Network Science, and Artificial Intelligence.
