GeneralContext Stone type: Fine-grained, dolomitic, white limestone.
Dimensions 60cm (23.6'') high, 41.5cm to 39.5cm (16.4'' to 15.6'') wide, and 34.5cm to 32cm (13.6'' to 12.6'') thick.
GeneralDescription Cross Shaft fragment, dated to the late tenth or mid eleventh century.
GeneralDescription The shaft fragment has a single panel with a large frontally posed Virgin Mary and Child. Her head is missing. Mary's feet are on a horizontal rectangular cushion. She has a voluminous skirt carved in twelve vertical folds. She has a collar or necklace consisting of five pear-shaped elements.
GeneralDescription The Child is sitting on her lap, almost slipping from her grasp. Her left hand holds his back and her right hand holds his left leg. His arms are raised and his fingers are extended.
